Fundraising announcement: Rattlesnake - New Film

Rattlesnake - New Film             igg.me/at/rattlesnake

The Film

A ten year old girl is in an arid, desert canyon when her father dies after he’s bit by a rattlesnake twice.

The little girl is left entirely alone with no roads or civilization close by, and she has to figure out what to do for herself.

There are a multitude of problems this little girl must face, only compounded by dealing with the death of her father..

She knows it’s not safe for her to be where she is, but she can’t seem to leave her father’s side, even as she gets weaker and weaker.

Why Are We Making This Film?

Hi there. Kelvin Redvers here. There are not many short film ideas that I passionately believe in and truly desire to make, but this is one of them. I believe there is a simplicity to this story concept that I think anyone can, to some degree, relate to and understand: the film is about the moment when a child is forced to grow up, whether they want to or not. One of the reasons I want to make this film is that we have all been kids, and we have all experienced a certain kind of fear and trepidation when presented with a frightening, new environment, and this little girl has to live through one of the hardest.

This film will be shot in the canyon area around Lillooet British Columbia. This is an area I became totally infatuated with the first time I drove through, not that long ago. It is stark, dry, challenging environment, but is also utterly beautiful. It’s the perfect landscape for which this little girl to find herself lost in.

I believe the film will work because of the strength and emotionality of the lead actress. We have a spectacular leading lady who is going to be starring in the movie: Megan Charpentier. She’s fantastic, and you’ll find more info on her below.

The script is written, and right now I can see the movie play out in my head: it’s engaging, and heartbreaking, and impactful. I know Megan Charpentier is going to do a great job, and I know the team we’re assembling will be able to pull it off excellently, including my fellow producer Laura Adkin, and our cinematographers, Nelson and Graham Talbot (more info below). I really believe in this concept, and hopefully you can believe in it too. Feel free to ask any questions, read all the info we have about the project here.. and hopefully you support Rattlesnake.

What We Need & What You Get

I figure we need $4000 to make this movie properly. The target we set for this Indiegogo campaign is $3000, as I do believe this movie COULD, potentially, be made for that amount, though I think it would still somewhat suffer. For $4000 we could make the movie adequately. With even more, we’d be able to make the movie well. For approximately $5,000, I believe we could give the story the resources we deserve. That being said, we will be happy for whatever amount you feel you could donate. The way we’ll reach these targets, is with the support of a wide range of people who can donate whatever they can.

So why donate? Well in addition to helping to bring this film into the world, you would be personally helping the careers of several people, including myself, Megan Charpentier, Graham and Nelson Talbot, (the cinematographers), Laura Adkin the producer. This list could go on and on and on… Maybe you know us, maybe you don’t, but either way it is a tough industry, and even the smallest gestures can mean a lot to help someone out.
